Me/Fanta = OTP

Once upon a time, in a far away land, known as Wales, I had a favourite pop.

It was called Fanta.

My sister and I would look forward to our trips back to Wales, simply so we could run down to Woolworths and get the mini cans of Fanta and the pick and mix bags of mini chocolate bars. AS we grew up, the love for Fanta never left. Only problem was, Fanta was never available in Canada. It was one of those terribly sad things, along with squash and cornetto ice cream cones, that we would never be able to get in Canada.

Until one day. Or so we thought.

A few years back, Coca Cola decided to bring Fanta over to Canada. Cue me and my sister EXPLODING with excitement… Until we saw the flavours.

Red tangerine? Blue raspberry? Wildberry? WHAT?! WHAT IS THIS?! This was not the Fanta we knew and loved! Really, trying to drink this was like a slap in the face. I would have sooner not had Fanta in Canada at all instead of this impostor Fanta.

When I moved to Japan, I’m not going to lie, one of the first things I did when I arrived was stumble my way to the closest Lawsons or vending machine (I think it was a Lawsons, but it could have been either really, I was so tired I hardly remember) and I bought enough Fanta to last me the whole weekend in my hotel. Look at that exceptionally tired but stupidly happy face there! Oh Fanta, I loved you so much, I couldn’t even drink you by the end of my time in Japan. Seriously. It made me ill. ^^;;;

And so when I left Japan, I thought that was it. The dream was over. There was no more fanta in my life, and I would have to live some sad, shadow of existence without it.

And then I was in the Real Canadian Superstore today…

Fanta from the SuperStore

COULD IT BE? The colour is right… The name sounds right… Even the BOTTLE looks right. It seemed too good to be true. Okay, so it’s not labelled orange, but instead tangerine… THAT’S CLOSE, RIGHT?

I rushed home with my text bottle to try it out. When my dad saw the bottle, even he was rather excited at the thought of real Fanta in Canada, but he was even more sceptical than I was.

We opened the bottle… and tried a little.

…FANTA! YOU’VE RETURNED TO ME! *clings to forever and ever*

I’m going to go buy approximately 5657489302394587 bottles tomorrow. 😀
